The beginning of the story

MERAS: a story shared, wisdom passed on, heritage carried forward.

Through practice comes experience. Through experience, a craft is refined. And when knowledge passes from one generation to the next, the story lives on.

Why we are called MERAS

In Arabic, the word Maras means strength, resilience and the wisdom that comes from practice. That meaning is at the heart of our vision: traditional crafts are more than products of the past. They hold generations of skill, living cultural memory and creative value still waiting to be discovered.

MERAS is a digital platform that revives traditional crafts across the Gulf and the wider Arab region. By connecting master craftspeople with younger generations, customers and new markets, we turn inherited knowledge into chances to learn, create and earn a living.

Our vision
A creative economy rooted in heritage, where senior craftspeople are celebrated and empowered.
Our mission
Preserving and reviving traditional Arab and Gulf crafts by connecting senior craftspeople with younger generations, turning endangered heritage into a living, teachable and sustainable legacy.

We believe heritage is not only what we preserve, but what it makes possible for the future. Traditional crafts can create new sources of income, open new paths for work and creativity, and uphold the dignity of the people who practise them, when they are given the recognition and the chances they deserve.
